Arianna Creasman is a mixed-media artist with a special interest in insect pinning. She is currently a junior at Christopher Newport University, pursuing a degree in Studio Arts. Arianna has had a passion for art since childhood and began collecting insects in high school starting her ever-growing insect collection. Her work blends the delicate and the eerie, often dressing insects in lace, frills, and bows.

Her creations consist of feminine insect dioramas crafted from various materials, including wood, textiles, clay, paint, and mainly second-hand materials. She is particularly drawn to the contrast between the softness of fabrics and the hard exoskeletons of the insects she preserves. She brings these dried insects back to life by exploring stop motion, showcasing their beauty and fragility.

Arianna’s work is deeply inspired by her love of collecting antique dolls, clothing, and other curiosities. She also draws influence from the surreal works of Jan Švankmajer, Ladislas Starevich, and Christiane Cegavske. She is interested in exploring themes of feminine and grotesque, finding beauty in the often-overlooked world of insects, and inviting others to appreciate their beauty.
